Peter J. Edwards
Peter J. Edwards has been with Canadian
National Railway Company (CN) since 1999. In
his role as Vice-President of Human Resources, Peter has been dedicated
to facilitating large-scale organizational culture change and building a high performance
organization. His innovations at CN include the establishment of
individual employee performance scorecards for each of CN’s 18,500
unionized employees. He had a key role behind the critically praised book How We Work and Why, which focussed on managing a changing railway. The book has been translated into three languages.
In 2008, Peter's lastest book with CN's CEO, Change, Leadership, Mud and Why, will be released internally at CN and within the industry. In October, a book he co-authored, Switchpoints: Culture Change on the Fast Track, will be published by Wiley.
Peter began his
career with Abitibi-Price and worked with the organization
across Canada. In 1989 he was recruited by Labatt Breweries/Interbrew
and held successively more senior positions that encompassed
the human resources and labour relations portfolio. He completed his undergraduate and
Master of Industrial Relations at Queen’s University, and currently serves on the advisory boards of Queen’s University
Master of Industrial Relations program and Industrial Relations Centre.
